A Dress for all Seasons and Occasions

Pattern Review: Simplicity S8872

I have been meaning to make this Simplicity S8872 dress from my pattern stash for a while but finding the right fabric for the 1st time was a tad elusive even though I have an ever-growing stash. I finally settled on this fun rayon print from Spotlight.

It is an effortless and fast dress to sew, good for an advanced beginner. I chose View C but, with the little cap sleeves and no fancy trim. I don’t care for the tie and found it much nicer on me with the opening splayed out flat, as for the trim I thought it was too much and I possibly will never bother with the trim.

The ruffle at the bottom is a little bit fiddly but worth the time, I quite enjoy the process of getting it as even as possible.

This dress is super comfortable and I will be making it again with long sleeves and a shorter version for summer. I am also thinking of maybe converting it into a top with a peplum. The pattern is perfect to use for all occasions.
