A Wardrobe Staple for Cooler Days

Pattern Review: Papercut Luna Jacket.

I really appreciate the versatility of this jacket, not just for the variety of styles it offers—lined or unlined, with or without pockets, or with a tie. What I love even more is the selection of woven fabrics you can choose from, and it doesn’t require a lot of material.

It’s an easy jacket to create and provides a satisfying finish.

For this version, I used a fabric from Spotlight that is 65% Viscose, 32% Wool, and 3% Metallic. I made variation 3, but added the pockets. Instead of overlocking the seams, I trimmed them with pinking shears.

This pattern would be a wonderful addition for an experienced beginner, as it comes with video instructions: Luna Jacket — Luna Jacket — Papercut Patterns (papercutjournal.com). I bought the paper version when I was in New Zealand, as it’s an NZ-based company.

Because of the fabric, the drape isn’t quite what I hoped for, but that’s just me being particular. Additionally, the metallic fibers make it a bit scratchy against my bare arms, so it’ll be a jacket I wear with long sleeves.

Overall, it’s a nice, simple jacket that will suit any occasion, especially with the hint of metallic shimmer. I definitely recommend it and would make it again. Like shoes a girl can never have too many jackets.

You may still find the printed version around still but the pdf is available at Papercut Patterns in all formats including Copy Shop AO.
