Skirts

A-Line Simplicity

Pattern Review: Butterick 3783

I created this skirt several years ago using a lightweight polyester material. I should have added a lining since it turned out to be quite see-through. Honestly, I was never too fond of the paisley pattern, which is probably why I didn’t wear it often.

The skirt features a relaxed fit with an elasticised back and front pleats, creating a polished appearance at the front. It’s designed on the bias for a gentle drape.

There are six different styles, and I selected option F, but without lining.

Over time, I’ve transitioned to wearing more natural fibres, and I found this skirt to be a bit too hot to wear. Therefore, I decided to donate it to the local thrift shop. As I write this, I have set it aside to be re-sewn with a rayon fabric.

The Butterick 3783 pattern is out of print, but it is still available, both cut and uncut, at various online sources.
